ENGLISH:
On the eve of a week of fashion shows, the whole Parisian world is in fibrillation. A tragic event, however, occurs: returning from the airport where he was to welcome Sergei Oblomov (a Russian tailor) the president of the National Chamber of fashion Olivier De La Fontaine dies in his car suffocated by a sandwich. Sergei is frightened and the police is convinced that it is a crime. The tailor goes to a large hotel, steals a checked jacket, and sets out to hunt for the dead widow (Isabelle, who hated her husband, like many stylists and operators in the industry, who now come to offer hypocritical condolences). Many, many years before, the splendid Isabelle and Sergei had been lovers. In the same hotel, Joe Flynn and Anne Eisenhower, American journalists invited to Paris, forced to occupy the same room, spend whole days taken by love, sending faxes to America on the basis of the only news seen on television. Then there are the phantasmagorical fashion shows: hysterical stylists like Cort Romney (a homosexual) and an adversary-friend (Cy Bianco), who directs a team of models, all of color like him, or worried as the seductive madame Simone Lowenthal (lover of the deceased Oliver), whose son Jack in full défilé of the company sells the company to a Texan industrialist. Everything takes place in an atmosphere of excited and vacuous people, of inverted and transvestites, make-up artists, hairdressers and amazing models, among rustling veils, expensive fabrics, with the ubiquitous photographer Milo O’Brannigan – the best at international level – who photographs betraying three different editors of the best fashion magazines. Kitty Potter – always emerging in the general chaos with microphone in hand for her one thousand TV interviews with important people – abandon her work, disconcerted and disgusted by the final show: the plot twist created by Madame Lowenthal to be applauded with her team totally nude models.
