Un giovane pescatore di Pozzuoli, Gino Esposito, è innamorato della sedicenne Laura che lo ricambia con passione; ma la famiglia di lei è contraria all’idillio e giunge anche a picchiare selvaggiamente il giovane. I due colombi però, su consiglio del comune amico Tito, fuggono a Venezia ma subito vengono ripresi; lei è ricondotta a casa, lui in carcere per ratto di minore. Laura sposa Tito per salvare Gino dalla prigione. Passano così circa dieci anni, i due innamorati si rincontrano per caso nel negozio di dischi che lui ha aperto e scoprono di amarsi ancora. Gino è rimasto vedovo con un vispo ragazzesco, Duccio; Laura ha una figlia Lisa, che il padre Tito adora. Il matrimonio senza amore di Laura, dopo l’incontro con Gino entra in crisi. Tito è geloso della moglie che ormai lo odia; così per vendicarsi del rivale decide di far mettere una bomba nel negozio di Gino. Ma il piano non procede nel migliore dei modi poiché nel negozio, all’ora dello scoppio, si trovano i due ragazzini che hanno fatto amicizia; Tito corre sul luogo e nell’estremo tentativo di salvare i fanciulli muore, riscattando la sua perfidia. Laura e Gino possono così riunirsi e formare una famiglia felice con il pieno consenso dei figli.

A young fisherman from Pozzuoli, Gino Esposito, is in love with sixteen-year-old Laura, who reciprocates his passion; but her family is opposed to the romance and even goes so far as to savagely beat the young man. However, the two doves, on the advice of their mutual friend Tito, flee to Venice but are soon recaptured; she is returned home, while he is sent to prison for kidnapping a minor. Laura marries Tito to save Gino from prison. About ten years pass, and the two lovers meet again by chance in the record shop he opened and discover they still love each other. Gino is now a widower with a lively boyish man, Duccio; Laura has a daughter, Lisa, whom her father, Tito, adores. After meeting Gino, Laura’s loveless marriage begins to crumble. Tito is jealous of his wife, who now hates him; so, to get revenge on his rival, he decides to plant a bomb in Gino’s shop. But the plan doesn’t go smoothly because the two young boys who had become friends were in the shop at the time of the explosion. Tito rushes to the scene and, in a last-ditch attempt to save the children, dies, redeeming his treachery. Laura and Gino are thus able to reunite and form a happy family with the children’s full consent.
