La Longobarda è appena stata promossa in serie A, ma per il suo presidente è troppo gravoso sostenere gli altissimi costi, perciò recluta Oronzo Canà (Lino Banfi), un allenatore disoccupato e incompetente, per guadagnare la retrocessione. L’ignaro Canà, però, fa di tutto per vincere le partite e, per non deludere i tifosi, ingaggia una giovane promessa brasiliana. Sorprendentemente il ragazzo si rivela un campione e, a quel punto, non c’è più spazio per le finzioni…

La Lombarda has just been promoted to Serie A, but it is too burdensome for its president to bear the very high costs, so he recruits Oronzo Canà (Lino Banfi), an unemployed and incompetent coach, to earn relegation. The unaware Canà, however, does everything to win the matches and, in order not to disappoint the fans, he hires a promising young Brazilian. Surprisingly, the boy turns out to be a champion and, at that point, there is no more room for pretense…
