Mio fratello rincorre i dinosauri è una garbata e convincente commedia, tratta da una storia vera diventata il romanzo omonimo di Giacomo Mazzariol. Il film di Stefano Cipani risulta garbato e divertente, pur trattando un tema delicato come l’arrivo di un figlio affetto dalla Sindrome di Dawn in una famiglia, ma anche intelligente. Non un film buonista a tutti i costi, anche se il tipo di famiglia che Davide e Katia, i personaggi interpretati con semplicità e calore da Alessandro Gassmann e Isabella Ragonese, potrebbe essere un esempio per tutti. Semplicemente un’opera sensibile e riuscita, un film di spessore che emerge dietro il velo della commedia.
Davide e Katia hanno già tre figli e ogni volta che c’è un annuncio familiare, prendono la macchina e vanno nel parcheggio deserto di un discount per parlarne. Una modalità codificata che esprime il rispetto per la famiglia, fino ai più piccoli, e una sorta di sacralità. Una coppia che non ha fatto l’amniocentesi per non rischiare di compromettere la salute del nascituro e che si trova catapultata in una realtà impensata.

My brother chases the dinosaurs is a gentle and convincing comedy, based on a true story that has become the homonymous novel by Giacomo Mazzariol. Stefano Cipani’s film is gentle and funny, while dealing with a delicate subject such as the arrival of a child affected by Dawn Syndrome in a family, but also intelligent. Not a feel-good film at all costs, even if the type of family that Davide and Katia, the characters played with simplicity and warmth by Alessandro Gassmann and Isabella Ragonese, could be an example for everyone. Simply a sensitive and successful work, a thick film that emerges behind the veil of comedy.
Davide and Katia already have three children and every time there is a family announcement, they take the car and go to the deserted parking lot of a discount store to talk about it. A codified method that expresses respect for the family, down to the smallest, and a sort of sacredness. A couple who did not undergo amniocentesis in order not to risk compromising the health of the unborn child and who find themselves catapulted into an unexpected reality.
