E’ un’antologia di episodi tratti da alcuni film interpretati da Totò. Nel primo vediamo Totò combattuto fra i suoi doveri di soldato e l’amore nel secondo nelle vesti di uno zio che dalla Sicilia si reca a Milano, per indurre una cantante di varietà a lasciar perdere suo nipote nel terzo, conquistare l’amore della regina di Atlantide, il continente scomparso nel quarto, impegnato nel tentativo, fallito, di scroccare dei soldi al fratello con la scusa di un monumento funebre per una persona viva e vegeta nel quinto, Totò trova il modo di farsi pagare alcune ore di spensieratezza dall’ignara consorte, ma viene scoperto per colpa della televisione, nel sesto è nelle vesti di un compito ma furbo maggiordomo nel settimo ricorre a vari travestimenti per non pagare l’affitto nell’ultimo, arriva in ritardo al matrimonio di suo figlio per via di un vestito scambiato.

It’s an anthology of episodes from several films starring Totò. In the first, we see Totò torn between his duties as a soldier and love; in the second, he plays the role of an uncle who travels from Sicily to Milan to persuade a vaudeville singer to abandon her nephew; in the third, he wins the love of the queen of Atlantis, the lost continent; in the fourth, he attempts, unsuccessfully, to swindle money from his brother under the guise of a funerary monument for a living and well person; in the fifth, Totò finds a way to get paid for a few hours of carefree fun from his unsuspecting wife, but is discovered by television; in the sixth, he plays the role of a taskmaster but a crafty butler; in the seventh, he resorts to various disguises to avoid paying the rent; and in the last, he arrives late to his son’s wedding because of a mistaken dress.
