Elena Zonin è vicequestore a Roma. Si occupa di crimini informatici e dà la caccia a una rete di pedofili responsabile del rapimento e della vendita sul web di minori. Quando nella laguna di Venezia viene ritrovato il corpo senza vita di un bambino, si mette subito sul caso, convinta che sia riconducibile alla più vasta inchiesta alla quale si dedica da anni. Per lei andare a Venezia significa anche tornare a casa, da dove è andata via misteriosamente vent’anni prima. Qui ritrova Daniele, suo grande amore di allora, oggi anche lui poliziotto, e la moglie Giulia, che un tempo era la sua migliore amica. Tra i tre si ricostruisce lo stesso legame forte e caldo di un tempo, ma con la malinconia del tempo passato, delle occasioni perdute e dei segreti inconfessabili. Elena si ritroverà così stretta tra i ricordi e i luoghi della sua giovinezza, proprio mentre l’indagine porterà a scoperchiare un caso complesso e articolato che finirà per coinvolgere nemici influenti e insospettabili, ponendo Elena e Daniele nell’occhio del ciclone di una missione senza precedenti che metterà a repentaglio la loro stessa vita.

Elena Zonin is assistant superintendent in Rome. She deals with cybercrime and hunts down a paedophile network responsible for the kidnapping and sale of minors on the web. When the lifeless body of a child is found in the Venice lagoon, she immediately sets about the case, convinced that it can be traced back to the broader investigation to which she has been dedicating herself for years. For her, going to Venice also means returning home, from where she mysteriously left twenty years earlier. Here she finds Daniele, her great love at the time, now also a policeman, and his wife Giulia, who was once her best friend. The same strong and warm bond of the past is reconstructed between the three, but with the melancholy of the past, of lost opportunities and unspeakable secrets. Elena will find herself so caught between the memories and places of her youth, just as the investigation will lead to the uncovering of a complex and articulated case that will end up involving influential and unsuspected enemies, placing Elena and Daniele in the eye of the storm of an unprecedented mission that will put their own life in jeopardy.
