Guerra 1915-1918: barbasini, un cialtrone cantante di balera, ce la mette tutta per farsi riformare, disposto a tutto, fino all’ignominia. ma sembra proprio che la patria non possa fare a meno di lui. con il suo carico di paura e vigliaccate arriva al fronte ma piu’ che gli austriaci, suoi nemici mortali diventano due dritti compari di truffe, tomo secondo e marianna, due contadini che vivono la guerra arraffando. per un bullo come barbasini essere fregato da un burino e’ duro ma essere preso in giro da una ragazza e’ il colmo. inizia la guerra privata. due mondi si scontrano: quello che vive nelle balere e quello astuto dell'”agricolo”, ma tra i due e’ la ragazza che muove i fili dei sentimenti e delle rivalita’ e delle gelosie: per lei non c’e’ disfatta, gioca da sola a vivere. vince con gli italiani, con gli austriaci e con i due cuori teneri e sgomenti di barbasini e del burino. ma alla fine la crudelta’ della guerra coinvolgera’ anche lei: non le servira’ piu’ la civetteria, la furbizia: solo i sentimenti sopravviveranno.

War 1915-1918: barbasini, a scoundrel singer of dance hall, does all he can to be reformed, willing to do anything, up to ignominy. but it seems that the country cannot do without him. with his load of fear and cowards he arrives at the front but more than the Austrians, his mortal enemies become two straight buddies of scams, tome second and marianna, two peasants who live the war by grabbing. for a bully like barbasini being screwed by a burino is hard but being teased by a girl is the limit. private war begins. two worlds collide: the one who lives in dance halls and the cunning one of the “agricultural”, but between the two it is the girl who moves the threads of feelings and rivalries and jealousies: for her there is no defeat, play alone to live. he wins with the Italians, with the Austrians and with the two tender and dismayed hearts of barbasini and del burino. but in the end the cruelty of the war will involve her too: she will no longer need coquetry, cunning: only feelings will survive.
