Totò, editore di una rivistucola, indispettito perché il fattorino Achille, innamorato della sua figliola Lidia, pensa più ai romanzi di fantascienza che al lavoro, lo licenzia. Achille però non si contenta di leggere romanzi: ne ha scritto uno e vorrebbe vederlo pubblicato. Si scopre intanto che nel suo sangue c’è del glucosio il che lo rende particolarmente adatto alle esplorazioni spaziali. Tale circostanza desta l’interesse degli americani e degli emissari di un altro stato non identificato. Gli americani prendono contatto con Achille ma questi non comprende quello che gli dicono nella loro lingua, ch’egli ignora, e crede che vogliano lanciare il suo romanzo. Informatone, Totò cambia radicalmente il suo atteggiamento di fronte al suo ex fattorino: si dichiara disposto a dargli in moglie la figliola e gli pubblica il manoscritto. Quando però si conosce la vera natura del contratto proposto ad Achille, questi lo rifiuta energicamente, malgrado l’offerta di 30 milioni di dollari e le insistenze del principale. Intervengono gli emissari dello stato sconosciuto, i quali riescono a lanciare nello spazio Totò e un presunto Achille. Quegli esseri ultraterreni hanno infatti fabbricato due copie conformi di Achille e Totò, il che dà origine a vari equivoci. Totò, raggiunta la luna, si adatta a viverci mentre il falso Achille viene trasformato in una ragazza.

ENGLISH:

Totò, editor of a magazine, annoyed because the deliveryman Achille, in love with his daughter Lidia, thinks more about science fiction novels than about work, fires him. Achille, however, is not content with reading novels: he has written one and would like to see it published. Meanwhile, it turns out that there is glucose in his blood which makes him particularly suitable for space exploration. This circumstance arouses the interest of Americans and emissaries from another unidentified state. The Americans make contact with Achilles but he does not understand what they say to him in their language, which he does not know, and believes they want to launch his novel. Informed, Totò radically changes his attitude towards his former delivery boy: he declares himself willing to give him his daughter as his wife and publishes the manuscript. However, when the true nature of the contract proposed to Achilles is known, the latter vigorously refuses it, despite the offer of 30 million dollars and the insistence of the principal. The emissaries of the unknown state intervene, who manage to launch Totò and an alleged Achille into space. Those otherworldly beings have in fact manufactured two true copies of Achille and Toto, which gives rise to various misunderstandings. Totò, having reached the moon, adapts to live there while the false Achilles is transformed into a girl.
