They are the eyes of Don Nunnari, a titanic man, who crossed and cut the history of Calabria, becoming its own history and guided, administered, controlled, influenced and redesigned the history of the southern church in recent decades with balance and extraordinary modernity. Today Archbishop of Cosenza and President of the Episcopal Conference of Calabria, Don Nunnari talks about his land as he is told by the effective and direct pen of the journalist Attilio Sabato who never overlaps the dialoguing voice of the high prelate but lets his frames flow that erupt lava and bursting onto the page. A story within the story, therefore, like a complicated matryoshka, in a seething magma that shows the reader a multiple and complex man who participated in the “days of the revolt” in Reggio with total and overwhelming passion, who was sent to Irpinia to manage the after -Earthquake in a no man’s land, which returned to Calabria and was hit by very strong waves. ‘Ndrangheta wars, ferocious scandals in the church and political catastrophes: Don Nunnari advances like “a war machine” without ever backing away.
