Il capitano di un mercantile aiuta a uscire un bambino da un guaio; costui ha provocato inconsapevolmente dei danni alla scuola elementare che frequenta, e la madre dovrebbe risarcire. Diventato amico del piccolo, s’innamora della madre, e si offre di pagare lui i danni. La donna ben presto lo ricambia ma il capitano un brutto giorno viene accusato di contrabbando. Condannato, promette di scontare interamente la pena per poi unirsi in matrimonio con la donna così da dare un padre al piccolo amico.

A merchant's captain helps a child get out of trouble; he unknowingly caused damage to the elementary school he attended, 
and his mother should be compensated. Become a small friend, he falls in love with his mother, and offers to pay him damages. 
The woman soon gets her back but the captain is being blamed for smuggling a bad day. Condemned, 
he promises to fully charge the penalty and then join in marriage with the woman so to give a father to the little friend.
