Pasquale, un povero ciabattino, padre di dodici figli, decide di travestirsi da monaco per cercare di ottenere un po di soldi e di ospitalit per s e la numerosa famiglia. Per sua sfortuna, finisce nel castello di un perfido marchese, che tiene prigioniera la cugina Fiorenza. Nel tentativo di liberare la povera Fiorenza, il buon Pasquale mette in atto una serie di tranelli che daranno vita a incidenti boccacceschi e a situazioni divertenti.

Monza, 1630, a period of Spanish rule. Pasquale Cicciacalda, a humble shoemaker native of Casoria, widower of the midwife Provvidenza, can not maintain their 12 children (6 pairs of twins) and therefore devises a cunning ploy. Disguised himself and his children as monks, vague with them pretending to be poor monks, asking food and charity.

ENGLISH:

Pasquale, a poor cobbler, father of twelve children, decides to disguise himself as a monk to try to get some money and hospitality for himself and his large family. Unfortunately for him, he ends up in the castle of an evil marquis, who holds his cousin Fiorenza prisoner.
