Totocamen, spacciato dal suo manager Tarantancamen come figlio del Dio Amone, si esibisce a Tebe, alla presenza del dignitario del Faraone. Ricorrendo a trucchi, riesce a dimostrare una grande forza. Maciste, che è alla corte del Faraone, di cui ama la figlia Nefertite, dopo aver bevuto un filtro preparato dalla moglie del Faraone per abbattere il marito e regnare col suo amante, mette la sua erculea forza al servizio degli Assiri, onde distruggere Tebe. Il Faraone si affida a Totocamen, il quale, dopo aver tentato in tutti i modi di rifiutare il pesante incarico, guida l’esercito tebano. Alla fine, s’incontra con Maciste dentro il tempio. Ma l’effetto del filtro si esaurisce, il Faraone scopre la congiura e Maciste ritrova il suo amore per Nefertite.

Totocamen, passed off by his manager Tarantancamen as the son of the God Amon, performs in Thebes, in the presence of the Pharaoh’s dignitary. Using tricks, he manages to demonstrate great strength. Maciste, who is at the court of the Pharaoh, whose daughter Nefertite he loves, after drinking a filter prepared by the Pharaoh’s wife to overthrow her husband and reign with her lover, puts his Herculean strength at the service of the Assyrians, in order to destroy Thebes. The Pharaoh entrusts himself to Totocamen, who, after having tried in every way to refuse the heavy task, leads the Theban army. Eventually, he meets with Maciste inside the temple. But the effect of the filter wears off, the Pharaoh discovers the conspiracy and Maciste rediscovers his love for Nefertite.
