This film is based on the novel by Alphonse de Lamartine. Within the space of 14 years, it seems everything is happening to Mary. She is just married to Stefano, by proxy who emigrated to Canada and everything else that is going on in her life, mostly tragic. A very heartfelt, darker sort of movie. It would be encouraged to be in a good headspace to watch this film, one where you can concentrate and really think about the movie.  Still highly recommended.
